About Me and My Little Business
A little bit about me πΈ
Hi! Iβm Becks, the 26 year old, disabled and very pink owner of Chronic Creator!
I first picked up a crochet hook towards the end of 2022. At the time, I had absolutely no plans on starting a business β crochet was simply a new hobby and something I could focus on that helped me cope with my disability and mental health.
Safe to say... it got a little out of hand. π
In 2023, that little hobby turned into a little business called CuteLilStitches. I started making plushies to sell and taking them along to stalls and markets. At the time, I never really expected it to become much more than that β I was just enjoying creating things and seeing people actually wanting to take them home!
But it just kept growing. π
Over the next couple of years I attended more events, made a LOT of plushies, met some amazing people and slowly started figuring out what I wanted my little business to become.
From making to designing π§Ά
After spending the first year or two mainly making and selling my crochet creations, I decided to try something completely new β designing my own crochet patterns.
And I absolutely fell in love with it.
Being able to take an idea from my head, turn it into an actual little character and then write a pattern so that others can make their own is such an amazing feeling. Seeing other crocheters make something that started as one of my random ideas still doesn't get old!
Pattern designing has now become a huge part of what I do alongside making plushies and attending events, and I'm always working on (or getting distracted by π) another idea.
So... why Chronic Creator? πΈ
As the business grew, I realised CuteLilStitches didn't really feel like me anymore.
I wanted a name that meant something and represented more than just crochet. I wanted it to connect back to why I started creating in the first place.
And that's where Chronic Creator came from.
The name is a nod to living with chronic illness. My disability is part of the reason I picked up a crochet hook in the first place, and crochet became something that helped me through difficult days both physically and mentally.
So when it came time to give the business a new name, Chronic Creator just felt right.Β Something I originally started to help myself had somehow grown into a business, a creative outlet and a massive part of my life. π
Where I am now β¨
These days you'll usually find me surrounded by yarn, designing a new pattern, making far too many plushies before my next event, or convincing myself that I definitely need more yarn. π
I still love getting out to stalls and events and meeting the people who support my work in person, but I also love that my patterns mean my creations can now be made by crocheters from all over the world!
Chronic Creator has grown and changed so much since I first picked up that crochet hook in 2022 β and I don't think I'm anywhere near finished yet.
So thank you for being here π
Whether you've bought one of my plushies at a stall, placed a custom order, made something using one of my patterns, followed me on social media, shared my work, or you've literally just discovered me today β thank you!
Every order, follow, comment, pattern download and little bit of support helps me continue doing something that started out as a hobby during a difficult time and somehow became so much more.
I'm excited to see where Chronic Creator goes next. πΈ
